Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico

The National University of Mexico (UNAM) is the second oldest public university in America after that of Santo Domingo. Throughout the school’s history, especially during the first seven decades of the twentieth century, it has been involved in forming the main influencers of the political world coming from Mexico, writers, scientists, engineers and philosophers who have contributed to the construction of the country. In terms of enrollment, UNAM is one of the largest universities in the Americas (including the United States and Canada, with New York State University in first place). It ranks first among universities in Spain, Portugal and Latin America according to The Times. An additional study from Peking University considers UNAM to be the best university in this region, as well as  the Spanish-speaking world in general. Today, the main challenge of UNAM is reform: keeping its public and free nature and eliminating the large administrative burden that has become embedded in its institutions are its priorities. The partnership with the TPTI EMJMD dates back to 2008, when UNAM joined the Key Action 3 partnership connected with the European Union and higher education.
