The French government offers scholarships to about 22,000 students each year. Most of this aid is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A / Scholarship on basis of social criteria CROUS

Can you get a scholarship based on social criteria ? We must calculate the "number of load points". Depending on your number of load points and the aggregate gross income of your parents, you are placed in a level of 0 to 6. CROUS only have the authority to classify students in these levels.
Rights given by  this award. According to your point of charge and income from your parents, you will be classified in one of the six existing levels :
- Students from level 0 (corresponding to higher income) are not eligible for a grant from the CROUS, however they may obtain an exemption from tuition fees in public institutions and the payment of dues to the student social security.
- Students classified in grades 1 to 6 receive an annual grant of :

  • Level 1 = € 1,525
  • Level 2 = € 2,298
  • Level 3 = € 2945
  • Level 4 = € 3,590
  • Level 5 = € 4,122
  • Level 6 = € 4,370

B / Bilateral Programmes

Scholarships are made available under bilateral assistance programs between France and foreign governments or under an annual scholarship program. The fields of study are identified in each agreement and generally correspond to the needs expressed by the foreign partner. Many grants are jointly financed. More than eighty percent of French government scholarships fall into this category.
Information on these scholarships can be obtained from the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in your country, or from the French consulate.

C / Exchange Master Ile-de-France

The Ile-de-France proposes, as part of an international mobility, individual financial aid empowered to authorize the placement of a foreign student of Master of 1st or 2nd in the higher education institutions in Ile-de France.
Information on these scholarships can be obtained from the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in your country, or from the French consulate.

D / Scholarships

These scholarships were established to allow French institutions of higher education to attract the best students and, through them, to develop cooperation between universities.

The Eiffel scholarship program, launched in January 1999 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to strengthen the international recruitment of French higher education schools at a time when competition to attract elite foreign students is becoming highest among developed countries.

It allows the best foreign students from French program schools abroad to follow a higher education level in France.
